Designing A Little Ladies Room
When I began designing this room, I started by thinking about the things that bring me joy—flowers, birds, shades of green, rich dark wood, marble accents, and the comfort of a soft blanket. I wanted the space to feel colorful yet timeless, feminine yet grounded. While pink has never really been my style, green felt like the perfect choice: earthy, elegant, bright, and full of life. After all I am bringing a little lady into this world.
The first step in the design process was finding a fabric I truly loved for the window treatments, crib skirt, and a lumbar pillow. Once I had that piece of the puzzle, the rest of the room came together naturally. I pulled colors and inspiration directly from the fabric to create a cohesive, layered space that feels warm, inviting, and thoughtfully curated. Fabric King Cotton Fabrics
The fabric I chose is called Emilia from King Cotton Fabrics located in Birmingham Alabama. It’s a beautiful linen fabric that incorporated every color I had envisioned for this room. We’re using it in a pleated style for the window treatments and crib skirt, and it will also be featured on a lumbar pillow to tie everything together. I love how sweet and timeless the pattern feels—it has a classic charm that can easily grow with her over the years while still feeling soft, fresh, and playful for a nursery.
I knew I wanted an ottoman with a ruffled detail to bring in a softer, more feminine touch. I instantly fell in love with this seaglass blue—it pairs perfectly with the fabric I chose for the room, so it quickly became a must-have piece for the space. Originally, I tried searching on Facebook Marketplace for something I could reupholster, but I wasn’t finding the right shape or fabric combination I had in mind. While I’m not always the biggest fan of Target furniture overall, I do think the quality of the Threshold line stands out compared to others at a similar price point.
I learned so much during my time with The Boutique Charleston, especially the value of investing in high-quality linens that are both beautiful and lasting. The Matouk Pezzo throw blanket was always a timeless favorite in the store, so I knew I wanted one for those inevitable long nights spent in the nursery.
I also love how this soft coral color ties in so beautifully with the room’s main statement fabric, adding another warm and cozy layer to the space.
I adore the antique-inspired charm of this crib paired with the safety and functionality of modern design. One of my favorite features is that it grows alongside your little one through every cozy stage of childhood. I purchased all of the conversion attachments so that as she gets older, she can continue using the same bed—from crib, to toddler bed, and eventually into a bed for her kid and teen years.
I love the idea of creating something lasting rather than constantly replacing furniture, and this piece feels both practical and sentimental. It’s truly timeless, and the craftsmanship and details are absolutely stunning.
Antique Marble Top Dresser
When searching for a dresser, I knew I wanted something that complemented the crib while also bringing in a bit of contrast and texture. Since there’s already so much dark wood in the room, I specifically looked for a marble top to help lighten the space and keep it from feeling too heavy.
After being patient and checking Facebook Marketplace regularly, I came across this stunning refurbished antique for only $200. So many dressers on the market today are incredibly expensive and made from newer materials that lack character, so finding a piece with timeless charm and quality craftsmanship felt really special.
I found this floor lamp on Facebook Marketplace and immediately knew it had to be part of the room. I also wanted to incorporate a few gold accents throughout the space to add warmth and dimension. I’m typically more of a silver girl, but mixed metals are having such a moment right now, so I decided to lean into it—and this piece felt like the perfect place to start. It’s truly such a stunning statement piece.
Diaper caddies can actually be really cute, and this wicker one from West Elm with scalloped edges blends seamlessly with the rest of the house if you ever need to move it from room to room.
This classic cream glider from Namesake Home is a timeless piece that can grow alongside your little lady and eventually transition beautifully into another room down the road. It’s oversized, incredibly comfortable, and thoughtfully crafted with a soft waterfall skirt. The included lumbar pillow will be reupholstered in the Kings Cotton fabric for an added custom touch.
